The Team

Who Are We ?

We are friendly vancouverites from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School, representing the Animal Awareness Club! We are a group of motivated, inspired, passionate youth who are here to educate the world about Earth’s grand animal kingdom of so many unique and phenomenal species. From this, we hope to inspire others and spark compassion for our loving critters and help prevent animal cruelty of all forms and shapes around the world. Help us in our pursuit for peace, happiness, and equality amongst all creatures of our welcoming home, Earth.

Joana Lee
Co-President

My name is Joana Lee and I’m one of the co presidents of the club. I originally attended Lord Byng Secondary but I transferred to Churchill last year for Pre IB. Currently, I’m in grade 11 in IB Year 1. I’ve been vegetarian my entire life and I’m also left handed. I love animals but I also love nature too. In the summer and throughout the school year, I volunteer for environmental organizations such as Catching the Spirit Youth Society or Green Chair Recycling. When I’m not busy with homework, I enjoy reading, baking and sleeping.

Mudi Zhao
Co-President

My name is Mudi Zhao and I am Co-President of the SWC Animal Awareness Club. I am a hippie vegan who is pulling her hair out trying to get through IB at SWC ✌. I have two purralicious cats who love selfies. I love animals, and it is my goal to encourage others to look at animals differently, with more compassion and empathy. I am an optimistic head-in-the-clouds gal who strives for peace between all creatures. I have volunteered with Stanley Park and I am involved with the community to promote animal rights.  Live long and prosper y’all.

My name is Vivian Chew and I am the secretary of the club. Currently, I’m in grade 11 in IB Year 1. My passion is horses, but I have a deep respect for animals of all kinds. I am an aspiring Veterinarian, a dream that has its roots in the SPCA summer camps that I have attended as a kid, and a desire to help animals that have been abandoned or mistreated. I volunteer at the Cats-Only Veterinary Clinic and have experience with the Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advocacy. I happily enjoy my weekends volunteering, going horseback riding, and figure skating.
